HOME WHERE IS KRNICA? CONTACT INFO@KRNICA.COM

Kvarner channel, for years, is a main ship route from Pula, Venice, and Trieste to Rijeka Harbor. During both WW's there were several minefields laying in this part of Adriatic Sea. Unfortunaly a lot of ships sunk. Mostly on mines and sometimes in combat or simply because of bad weather.

Apart from big cargo ships, passenger ships and war ships, there are some ancient wooden wrecks, small tugs and two airplanes sunken in this area.

The most famous are Cesare Rossarol, Italian Light explorer sunken in 1918 and Stella Polare sunken in a minefield at the entrance of Plomin bay. The biggest ship is Vis, sunken in the same minefield like Stella Polare. Probably the most dived one, because of shallow depth, is Lina. She is lying just next to shore on Cres Island. The depth is from 25-55 meters. Last few years there are more and more divers coming down here for wreck diving from all around Europe.

This section will be in constant update with new information's on present ships and update with new discoveries.
