The mythic Galijola, the cliff in the middle of the sea, is perhaps the most beautiful diving rock in the Kvarner. The cliff itself stretches east-west and it is about one hundred and fifty metres long and only about fifty metres wide. In the middle of the cliff is a lighthouse warning the sailors of its existence. The most beautiful diving spot is its southern side. We anchor at about one hundred metres from the shore, at the depth of 12 metres. We are checking the direction of the sea current, which can be strong, and we start. We dive along the anchor rope until the border of the wall at 15 metres. Below us is a crag that looks as if it was cut with a knife.
The depth is almost 50 metres, although it does not look that way at the first sight. Following the current, we are diving east-west. The biggest diving depth is about 40 metres. Lobsters, breams, giltheads, dentex, corbinas and a few lobsters are permanent members of Galiola. The wall swerves, it is full of holes. One moment we have the overhang, the other there are cuttings where fish and lobsters hide. The diving ends with diving out through the canyon leading up to the safety halt. The canyon is the most beautiful part of diving. After the diving, there is the obligatory visit and the photographing on Galijola.
